I've wanted to do a stop motion film of a Lego set building itself for a little while now, and my brother kindly bought me a little Lego set back from his trip to Germany. It's a Lego Mixels set, which I've not seen before, and I believe I have the "Chilbo" set.
He's a mean looking dude, not chilled at all
The processing of animating the build was just to slowly push the pieces toward being built, taking pictures regularly. I had to read a few pages ahead of the build to make sure all the required pieces were on their way toward the build before they actually needed to be used in assembly. I also recorded some other sounds to add to the video, which I didn't think to do until after I'd built the thing. Luckily I have some small, 3D printed stuff lying around that's a similar plastic to Lego, so I was able to use that for foley.
